Portloe
Portloe is a small fishing village located on the eastern side of Nare Head. There is a small harbour and slipway that becomes a small beach at low tide. Launching is from the slipway at high tide and the beach at low tide. The cove is relatively sheltered for launching and gives access to the eastern side of Nare Head and Gull Rock. A patch of reef is located approx. 1 nautical mile off Porthloe and can be paddled to on a calm day. Clean ground predominates but patches of rough and broken ground can be found close inshore along the coast.
Parking: Parking in Portloe is very limited, a small car park is located at the top of the village approx. 400m from the slipway.
Species: Pollack, Wrasse and Bass are possible over and around the rough ground and reefs. Codling and Whiting may show further out. Bull Huss and Conger are possible if fishing at anchor over rough ground. Plaice, Dabs and Gurnards may show to drift fished baits over the clean ground. Mackerel and Garfish in season.
Nearest Tackle Shops: City Angler at Truro, Mevagissey Shark Angling Centre at Mevagissey, Lowen-Chy Art and Angling at St Austell and Monster Tackle at St Austell
